Is back pain a sign before childbirth?
Back pain may be related to signs before delivery, or it may be caused by other factors. Therefore, low back pain cannot be simply used as a definite signal of childbirth.
1. Signs of low back pain before delivery
Before delivery, as the fetus’ head descends into the pelvis, it may compress the lumbosacral nerves, causing low back pain. At this time, if it is accompanied by symptoms such as regular uterine contractions, vaginal bleeding, or amniotic fluid rupture, it is likely to be a sign of labor.
2. Other factors that may cause low back pain
However, low back pain is not always a sign of childbirth, and may also be related to the following conditions:
1. Uterine enlargement Large: As the fetus grows, the uterus gradually increases, which may compress the pelvis and cause back pain.
2. Increased levels of relaxin: Increased relaxin in pregnant women relaxes bones, joints, muscles and ligaments in preparation for childbirth, but it may also cause low back pain.
3. Calcium deficiency: Calcium demand increases during pregnancy, and calcium deficiency may lead to osteoporosis and back pain. It is recommended to consume calcium-rich foods such as milk and dried shrimps.
4. Lumbar muscle strain: The center of gravity of pregnant women shifts forward and the waist is overloaded for a long time, which may induce lumbar muscle strain and cause pain.
5. Other diseases: such as scoliosis, lumbar disc herniation, etc., may also cause low back pain.
Pregnant women who experience low back pain during pregnancy should make a comprehensive judgment based on other symptoms. If the pain persists or worsens, it is recommended to seek medical treatment promptly to ensure the safety of mother and baby.
