Traditional Chinese medicine focuses on the "four adjustments" to treat serious illnesses before they become serious.
"Huangdi Neijing" says: "Shape and spirit are the same, and they will live out their lives until they reach a hundred years old." Paying attention to health preservation is the boat and bridge to reach the other side of health. The key to maintaining good health and treating illnesses lies in four adjustments: regulating spirit; regulating breathing; regulating daily life; and regulating diet.
Adjust the spirit
① Deficiency and tranquility benefit the spirit. To regulate the mind and maintain health, rest first: This is an important method to regulate the spirit and prolong life. Always keep your mind quiet and peaceful, and don't be burdened by fame, wealth and material things. "Huangdi Neijing" records: "Desires cannot strain their eyes, lust and evil cannot deceive their hearts, fools, wise and virtuous cannot be shameful, and they are not afraid of things." The role of rest. Keeping the spirit internally helps to store the kidney essence, and the essence is abundant, which can nourish the five internal organs internally and prevent evil invasion externally, so that the body will be strong and diseases will not arise. "The Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic" says: "In indifference and emptiness, the true energy will follow, and the spirit will be kept within, and the illness will never be safe?"
② Reflect and rest your mind. "Thinking leads to qi stagnation." Too much thinking can lead to stagnation of qi and poor circulation of qi and blood. Over time, qi stagnation turns into fire and consumes essence and blood, thus leading to a loss of essence and blood in the kidneys. The effect of reflection: Reflection reduces worries, nourishes the mind and concentrates thoughts, can preserve the essence in the kidneys, keep the body's physiological functions in the best state, feel refreshed, and live a long and healthy life.
③Changhuai and Yishen: Changhuai refers to the comfort of feelings, that is, the seven emotions and six desires are soothed and smoothed, so as to facilitate the harmony of the mind and the stability of the five internal organs. Excessive seven emotions are harmful to health. The "Nei Jing" believes that "sorrow and sorrow will cause the heart to beat, and the heart to shake the internal organs." This will affect the storage and protection of Yin essence in the kidneys. Ways to soothe your emotions include poetry, chess, calligraphy and painting, flowers, trees, birds and fish, art appreciation, antiquities collection, traveling and fishing, etc. It provides spiritual sustenance, removes worries, cultivates temperament, expresses emotions, maintains a healthy mental state, and promotes health and longevity.
Breathing Regulation
Breathing regulation (breath control) is the starting point of Taoist health preservation.
①The role of breath regulation. The purpose of protecting the kidneys and maintaining health can be achieved through the adjustment of breath. "Exhale the heart into the lungs, inhale the liver into the kidneys." The essence of heaven and earth is inhaled through the mouth and nose, and stored in the liver and kidneys, which has the effect of cultivating and replenishing the essence in the kidneys. The turbid gas in the body is expelled from the body through the action of the heart and lungs, thereby achieving the exchange of clear and turbid gases through inhalation and exhalation of turbidity, vomiting out the old and taking in the new.
②Method of adjusting interest rate. Use the deep breathing method of two inhales and one exhale to achieve the purpose of maintaining health and protecting the kidneys. The effect of regulating the breath will be better if it is combined with regulating the mind, which is what the "Huangdi Neijing" says: "Breathe the essence and guard the mind independently." Modern medical research: Deep breathing can help increase lung capacity, enhance the function of respiratory muscles, and increase blood levels. Oxygen content, improve oxygen supply to important organs, etc.
Adjust daily life
Improper daily life is one of the causes of internal trauma in traditional Chinese medicine. The "Emperor's Internal Classic" emphasizes that "having a regular daily life and not working rashly" is an important guarantee for physical and mental health that is "both physical and spiritual".
① Live a regular life. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that improper diet and irregular daily life are one of the main causes of premature aging. The peak hours of hospital visits are after weekends, May Day and National Day holidays. Improper living during this period may be the main factor leading to the occurrence of the disease.
②Follow the four seasons. Human life activities are closely related to changes in nature. People must adapt to changes in nature and synchronize human life rhythms with changes in nature. People's daily life must adapt to the changes in the four seasons of day and night, dress appropriately, eat reasonably, live appropriately, and follow movement and stillness in order to maintain health, strengthen their physique, avoid evil spirits, and achieve the goal of health and longevity. The "Emperor's Internal Classic" contains principles and methods of health care such as "the law is based on yin and yang", "combined with the numbers of magic", "nourishing yang in spring and summer, and nourishing yin in autumn and winter", etc., which requires people to follow the changing laws of the four seasons in maintaining health.
③ Work and rest appropriately. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that overwork and rest can cause illness. Overwork includes physical fatigue, mental fatigue and excessive housework. The pathogenic characteristics are firstly consumption of gas and secondly injury to the body. Qi consumption: Excessive exertion leads to depletion of visceral essence and functional decline. Symptoms such as lack of breath, laziness, asthma, sweating, mental fatigue, drowsiness, and physical weight loss can be seen. Injury form: Excessive force for a long time, straining the muscles and bones, tissue damage, and overtime causing illness.
Adjust diet
Traditional Chinese medicine advocates that people should eat in the right amount at the right time, and not be too hungry or too full; at the same time, attention should be paid to the cleanliness of food; it emphasizes the principle of supplementation that "medicine supplements are not as good as food supplements". It is advocated that through reasonable dietary adjustment, the same effect of medicinal supplements can be achieved, and organ dysfunction caused by over-efficiency of medicinal properties can be avoided.
